At some point during the settlement, all medical bills will be requested.

A common misconception is that they will be paid during the process. In reality, the insurance company is waiting until the settlement before they pay anything.

Certain types of coverages do pay immediately, such as MedPay, but these are exceptions.

DO NOT let your insurance company pay MedPay until you have consulted an attorney.

Not your own, not the other party’s.

DO NOT just “let the insurance take care of it”.

They will take advantage of you.

If you are not represented by an attorney, the insurance company will ask you to sign a “release” to gather your medical bills and records.

DO NOT SIGN THIS until you have consulted an attorney.

The insurance company is NOT YOUR FRIEND.
